Twilight, A Countdown

13… hours I’ve spent the past two days spent reading Twilight and New Moon

12… hours I’ll likely spend over next two days reading Eclipse and Breaking Dawn

11… dollars spent to acquire the book, Twilight

10… times my teenage niece asked me if I had read the book yet after I bought it

9… pages it took to get me hooked on the first book

8… times I thought to myself “Edward sounds dreamy”

7… times I’ve spotted missing quotation marks – who edited these books?

6… errands I blew off today to finish New Moon

5… times I exasperatedly thought “how could Bella have not yet figured out Jacob’s problem?” while reading New Moon

4… times I have eyed Eclipse, debating on whether or not to start reading it now or this evening

3… position on my Netflix queue for Twilight, even though the DVD won’t be out til the end of the month

2… other books I should be reading instead of these, Loving Frank for book club next week and Song of the Lark which is due back to the library

1… time I will read these books because while the story is quite intriguing, I daresay I won’t gain much more from a second reading.

So what about you? Have you fallen into the trap that is Twilight?

  • I borrowed the books but have yet to read them. just want to be able to sit back and sink in. I am waiting for the movie as well.

Sounds like it will be worth the wait!

  • It took a whole 9 pages? What? Were you watching TV at the same time?

  • One note: It’s New Moon, not Blue Moon. And I definitely got hooked quick! I noticed tons of errors also. They even have a random characters name in book 2 or 3; I can’t remember which one.

  • you apparently have NOT seen the movie. i think the “actors” on “Rock of Love” would have been able to do a better job. i guess the director knew what he was doing though. with the quality acting of a high school play, its hard to pay any attention to the many deviations the movie makes from the novel. well done!

  • Haven’t read the book, but Sis has read each book at least twice! She,along with the kdis at school LOVE the books. One of the English teachers has his kids reading it for an assignment. It’s been interesting listening to them talk about the book and the assignment. The girls all love the book, and the boys… well, some do and some don’t. But you have to remember where I teach!

  • Yes, yes and yes…but for some reason I haven’t read Eclipse and I have had it for at least 8 months. Happy TT! :)

  • Girl, you are BEHIND the times. Took you long enough! I’m not as googoo over Edward as many of my girlfriends are, but I certainly loved the books (though I think I must have had a better edited set than you do, because I have eagle eyes for editing errors and didn’t have the problems you are having). I have some students who have literally discovered a love of books because of this series, so I’m even fonder of the books than I would be otherwise.

  • Sarah ran across a manuscript online of Stephanie Meyer telling Twilight from Edward’s point of view. She LOVES it. I’ll have her email it to you.

Looks like you got bit! LOL. I live with a Vampire mamma as well.
