Who Does He Think He’s Fooling?

Written by Riley on March 11, 2009 in: Family | Tags: , ,

Conversation at bedtime:

The Boy: Can you leave the door open?

Me: I’ll open it after you fall asleep.

Close door, and approx five seconds later:

The Boy: I’m asleep now!

Me: I can tell that you’re not.

The Boy: Oh, okay. (pause) Now I’m asleep.

I open the door.

Me: Buddy, if you’re still talking to me, then I know you’re not asleep.

As I am about to close the door, I hear a whisper: “What if I talk like this?”

  • Hahaha. If only saying something made it true. ;-) I remember always wanting my door open too - it seemed like a real punishment to have it closed.

  • That’s hilarious. When I was young my mom told me I talk and laugh in my sleep, so I stayed up for a long time hoping to catch myself doing it.

  • :) He’s funny, that’s a story you’ll have to remember to tell him when he’s older.

  • Aww…I find myself missing my kids at that age! It’s so sweet when they say utterly daft things like that and don’t realize they’ve done it.
