And I remember reading the thing about the Biblical parallel and wondering HUH??? I didn't see it either. I enjoyed your interpretations. I think what I appreciated most about the story was how much research Sara Gruen put into it. I eagerly read her other books and didn't enjoy them nearly as much--admittedly, I'm not much of a horse person. She has a new one coming out this year called "Ape House" or something like that. Generally, it seems she writes about a bond with animals with which I can identify. I read this book last year and loved it.
