As I recall, Bart gets sent to France thinking he'll live in a chateau, but ends up way out the wine country in a little shack with two crooked French vintners who enslave him and let him eat a turnip for dinner. Meanwhile back at the ranch, the rest of the Simpsons take in a little boy from Albania, and Homer thinks this makes the kid "albino." I never really gave it much though, but "the foreign exchange student" really is such a movie ploy. I certainly never knew any foreign exchange students like that. (Which is probably for the best.) What is it with exchange students that brings out all our stereotypes, whether positive or negative? This was a great list. On TV, we have not-quite-exchange-student Korean child adoptee in Arrested Development. That was pretty funny, sort of equal opportunity mocking. I know!
