How Much is Health Worth, or Should I Buy AccuClean?

I have mentioned (obsessed over) the fact that The Boy has eczema. It used to be categorized as severe eczema, but has since been downgraded to moderate eczema. Most likely because of the removal of many, many foods from his diet. But the eczema still persists and from time to time, and I am still asked if he has (or just recently recovered from) chicken pox.

Why hasn’t it gone away entirely? Who knows. The weather. The dogs. Something out of place in his spine. Genetics. Stress. Allergies. Digestive issues. These are all answers I’ve received in the past from various people of western and alternative health practices.

Recently, I was made aware of the American Standard Heating & Air Conditioning’s AccuClean™ whole home air filtration system.

I am seriously considering getting this. I have no idea how much it costs, since they don’t even list the starting prices online (my wallet quivers in my back pocket as I write this), but according to my tax accountant, if I spend more than seven percent of my income on health related expenses, I can deduct them from my taxes, and while I don’t know if this would meet the required seven percent, this should count as health-related, shouldn’t it? Maybe I should include a picture of my son’s skin?

It’s old, but still infamous

Also, AccuClean removes nearly all allergens AND prevents odors. So not only could this help The Boy’s skin, it might also address the problem of my home smelling like dog.

I resent that comment. I smell like lilies. And roses. You should WANT to smell like me.

  • My dog smells like a pine forest. She’s quite lovely. Covered in sap from lying under the damn pine trees in the backyard — but still wonderfully aromatic. Unless she farts, that is.

  • His ezcema looks absolutely fierce! Two of mine kids have suffered with it too. The worst was my eldest who would scratch to bleeding every night in his sleep when he was a toddler/preschooler. I was obsessed with reducing the allergens in the house. Obsessed.

  • I have a friend who has suffered all his life with atopic eczema. He used to find the comments people made about it as irritating as the condition itself. (Everyone has a remedy they’re sure you haven’t tried — right?)

In Japan, they call it atopi and many people are affected by it. I knew one kid who had this horribly; by the time he started junior high, it had vanished. His parents never could figure out how it happened. Here’s hoping your son will have that kind of dramatic relief!

  • Agh. That looks painful. I had eczema when I was young (in the dark ages) but not that bad. It was pretty maddening-itchy, though. Since more traditional things aren’t working, maybe you’d be open to trying something “new age.” I know these things work. (I do reiki) Check out Dennis Puffet at this site: http://www.healinghaven.com.au/MessageofHope.htm He works for free and he is incredible. Even if you don’t believe in it or think it’s crazy, it’s free… just an email to him… and it might help.

  • First let me say… THAT POOR KID!
I hope that AccuClean is more affordable than you think and helps his skin. That has got to be rough for him.

Second, you know I LOVE any and all pictures of your dogs… especially that one!
