I was just rocking out to it the other night while making dinner. Ever since I was 10 and a new girl moved in next door. She was foreign, and hence exotic. She had the most sophisticated taste in clothes (for a ten year old) and music (Abba when all others were listening to Cyndi Lauper and Bryan Adams) and an accent that made her speech sound lyrical and magical. I know now she had a downmarket Scottish brogue, but I was young and impressionable. I think of her whenever I hear Abba, and then I have a real longing to drink Iron Bru and eat shortbread.
